Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens during a complimentary session?
In the individual (1:1) life coaching arena, you get to experience the power and benefits of coaching firsthand. In the company arena, we work together to design a collaborative coaching plan that identifies the key issues for the company and how they will be addressed. In both scenarios, you can decide if you are comfortable with my coaching and communication style and feel that we fit well as coach and client. You get to choose whether you would like to be coached by me.
  • How long does a complimentary session last?
This session normally takes about 60 minutes and can be scheduled through the website.
  • How long does a coaching session last?
Individual sessions typically last 45 minutes. Group and team sessions can last longer, with the duration dependent on the goal for the session.
  • Are coaching sessions in person or virtual?
Individual coaching sessions are typically done virtually. For company coaching, I attend workshops and group meetings in person, as requested.
  • How frequent are the coaching sessions?
Typically, sessions are scheduled weekly or every two weeks. If sessions are scheduled longer than two weeks apart, then some of the momentum for change can be lost.
  • Is the Energy Leadership (ELI) Assessment a personality test?
No. The ELI is an attitudinal assessment. Your attitudes are subjective and therefore can be shifted and, as a result, your behaviors can be changed. There are no limits to reaching your full potential, being more productive, and living your best life. While personality tests can be helpful, one limitation is that the results are not a reliable predictor of behavior or productivity. Personality tests usually result with you being assigned a group or “label.” As a result, individuals tend to work within the confines of the “label" (what you already have), limiting themselves, and never really move out of this comfort zone to reach their full potential.
  • How is the ELI Assessment administered?
You will receive the ELI Assessment electronically. Once you have completed and returned it, your results, along with some background information on energy leadership, is sent to you. We discuss the findings during the ELI Assessment Debrief.
  • What happens at the ELI Assessment Debrief?
You’ll learn about the 7 levels of leadership and how much energy you currently have associated with stress and effort in your life and how much energy you have related to power, effectiveness, and satisfaction. You are debriefed on the findings of the assessment, and based on these insights, I help you to navigate towards your desired goals.
  • What services are commonly confused with coaching?
Coaching is often confused with consultancy, mentoring, and therapy, despite major differences in their approaches. A consultant is usually an expert who is contracted to provide professional advice on a specific problem. A consultant analyzes the problem and provides a solution or strategy for solving or mitigating the problem. A mentor is considered a role model who shares their knowledge, experiences, and insights with someone typically less experienced in a specific field or area. A mentor has “been there and done that” and is willing to “show you the ropes.” A therapist typically helps clients fix problems, develop skills for managing deep-seated emotional issues from personal healing to trauma recovery, overcome issues, and sometimes, manage mental illness. A therapist usually explores the past to help the client figure out ‘why.’
